Legality of Treatments
Let’s face it, social media, and celebrities are making a huge impact on the upcoming generation of young adults. Young adults and teenagers are witnessing a whole new world of anti-wrinkle, lip and cheek injections becoming the new “norm”. Many individuals view cosmetic procedures as a way of self-expression. It is also to be noted that neither Botox nor any filler injection is permanent. However it is a medically prescribed treatment and should not be taken lightly. At Neu Look Med Spa & Skin Center, in San Diego, legally, you qualify for any treatment at the age 18 years of age, with a consultation. But that doesn’t guarantee you will receive every treatment you desire, because at a young age, your body and face are still developing.
Uniqueness of Treatments
At Neu Look Med Spa & Skin Center, we know that each patient is unique and some treatments are specifically to correct an asymmetry, imbalance or deformity to avoid surgery. Other patients want to achieve a specific appearance that they see themselves as in their mind. Some people believe that waiting until you are older is better due to your advanced physical and emotional maturity. There are some practitioners who say as long as you are over the age of 18 or past your later teen growth spurts that there is no reason to not receive Botox or Filler. Other providers state that it shouldn’t be started until someone is in their mid-to-late 20’s or 30 years of age. The general consensus between disagreeing parties is that it is all depending on what the younger patient wishes to achieve and why.
Fillers and Skin Damage
According to Coco Ruby Skin and Anti-Ageing Cosmetic Blog, “What the Kardashians are doing cosmetically might not suit your face or your lips. Plus, chances are that the younger you are when you first start getting cosmetic injections; the more likely it is that you might regret it over time. Just like those colorful tattoos you’re considering investing in (or already have).” Our NP Gita, at Neu Look Med Spa & Skin Center, states that fillers will only stretch your skin or damage your appearance, long term, if it is injected incorrectly. “There is no treatment that I offer at my facility that is 100% permanent and I provide my patients with a thorough consultation before I make any decisions on treating them. I do not over treat anyone, to benefit financially, and I always do what is best for that unique individual based on their desires and my professional advice.
Botox and Dysport
Botox and Dysport are injected for many reasons such as anti-wrinkling, hyperhydrosis, headaches and more. Botox is manufactured by Allergan and Dysport is manufactured by Galderma. They are both Botulinum products. They essentially do the same thing except their molecular makeup is different. One unit of Botox is equivalent to three units of Dysport. Therefore, don’t think that you’ll need the same dosage. Our NP, Gita Izadi, likes to use Botox and Dysport for different areas of the face. It also depends on the patients and whether they prefer Botox or Dysport. They are both used to soften lines our patients develop on their faces.
Fine lines and wrinkles on your face have multiple causes. Many fine lines and wrinkles are from expressions we make on a daily basis but they are largely from genetics. “Everyone’s skin retains lines differently. Therefore, one patient may start developing deep set lines, that can be softened with Botox or Dysport, at the age of 30 and another patient may start forming a deep set line at the age of 22. The goal of Botox or Dysport is to prevent deep set lines that will need to be filled eventually. It is not bad to be cautious and proactive with your face,” Gita states. Quality Over Pricing
At Neu Look Med Spa & Skin Center, we suggest that at ANY age, when receiving ANY treatment, to choose QUALITY over pricing. With injections, you often get what you pay for. Sacrificing professionalism and experience for lower pricing is never a good idea. Cheaper practitioners and facilities are often guilty of diluting their product, injecting lesser quality fillers, or non-approved substances. Anyone can be at risk for a poor injection but many unprofessional facilities prey on younger potential patients using social media as a tool. Please do not fall prey to these practices.
