Does Your Skin Look Like Crepe Paper?
Is your skin starting to look thin and wrinkled? And maybe similar to crepe paper? Crepey skin can result from aging, lack of moisture, excessive weight loss and exposure to the sun. Collagen and elastin, in our skin, keep our skin tight and wrinkle-free. But the ultraviolet light in the sun’s rays break down the collagen and elastin in our skin. However, don’t fret, there is a solution to this!
Treatments for Crepey Skin
You can use Sculptra and Radiesse fillers in areas you have crepey skin. These fillers can be injected in your neck, knees, butt, arms, face, and almost any other body part you can think of. Radiesse/ Scultpra are fillers used to plump wrinkled skin or folded areas of the skin, like crepey skin. After it is injected, Radiesse/ Sculptra stimulate your natural collagen growth. This is why your immediate results, post injection, will only improve. Our Nurse Practitioner, Gita Izadi, recommends getting 2-3 Radiesse/ Sculptra treatments that are 4-6 weeks apart. This is to ensure the best results! The injectable is known to last 9-15 months but can even last up to two years when you get the correct dosage. Sculptra has been known to last up to 2-3 years depending on how many treatments your receive. Peak results for Scultpra are after the second treatment. As Gita puts it, the filler needs to be layered in order to stimulate more collagen. Radiesse/ Sculptra both work to restore facial volume and soften wrinkles and folds over time.
Radiesse/ Scultpra are both great products that stimulate collagen production and work to add volume to the areas they are injected. When you come in for a consultation, Gita will go ahead tell you which one is better for your desired results. She can also help you figure out a treatment plan that is best for you! I have seen her use Scultpra countless times for the face and chest. And I have seen her use Radiesse for hands, arms, and the neck. But these two fillers can be used interchangeably. There’s just some differences in their molecular structures.
As stated on their company website,
“Radiesse is comprised of CaHA, calcium hydroxylapatite, microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel carrier.”
Once it is injected, Radiesse provides immediate volume and boosts the body’s natural production of collagen, for a long-lasting effect. The CaHA gel microspheres are then absorbed by the body, leaving the collagen that your body has produced. With Sculptra, it is a similar process except with PLLA which is poly-L-lactic acid, collagen stimulator. That’s why your metabolism is a huge factor in how long Radiesse lasts for you. Once the microspheres are metabolized, your collagen production will no longer be stimulated. So, if you’ve heard people claiming Radiesse isn’t lasting for them, it’s due to their body and metabolism. Fillers work differently for everyone so don’t let one person’s experience keep you from getting it done!
