Types of Dermal Fillers
Within the last few years, there have been several new dermal fillers introduced into the aesthetic and medical spa field.
Many patients at Neu Look Med Spa want to know what is the difference between these and fillers that have been around for longer.
Juvederm Vollure is one of the newest dermal fillers to emerge. What differentiates this filler from the original Juvederm Ultra, is its consistency. Both fillers are made up of Hyaluronic Acid Molecules (HA) which are cross linked and suspended in water. According to Allergan “Older forms of Juvéderm (like Ultra and Ultra Plus) cross-link HA molecules of all the same weight ,they called this process “Hylacross.” Newer versions cross-link higher and lower molecular weights, they call this “Vycross.” This unique crosslinking in Vollure means:
- It can be injected a bit more deeply to smooth more severe wrinkles.
- It spreads (moves) less than Juvéderm XC, but is still soft.
- It lasts longer than Juvéderm XC (up to 18 months vs. 6 to 12 months)
- Another benefit of this newer technology is that many patients find that Vollure softens their wrinkles while still allowing them to keep the natural expression that is unique to their face.
As with any filler you are considering, it is always best to consult with your doctor or Nurse Practitioner to discuss which product will be the most beneficial for you. Even more important is finding a practitioner that has a broad knowledge of all the fillers on the market. Here at Neu Look Med Spa, Gita Izadi, NP has over 13 years experience with dermal fillers and is known for her artistic and natural touch.
