Benefits of Laser Hair Reduction (aka “Removal”)

Laser Hair Removal at Neu Look Med Spa in San Diego

The Struggle is Real

At Neu Look Medical Spa in San Diego, California, we consider it summertime year-round. With almost perfect weather for shorts all year , your skin always needs to be ready! We offer all of the treatment essentials such as spray tanning, IPL Laser (for red and brown discolorations) and most importantly Laser Hair Reduction or “Removal”. Every female knows the struggle of always trying to achieve smooth skin with the results ending in stubble, razor bumps, and ingrown hairs . Men can also struggle with folliculitis (white or red pimple like dots surrounding the hair follicle) and ingrown hairs that can potentially cause scaring on their face, typically in their beard area.

Laser Hair Removal Vs. Waxing

Some people get waxed regularly, which is much less time consuming than shaving. Waxing is an effective method of hair removal for most people but it can be expensive in the long run. Many people experience skin irritation that can be itchy, unsightly and painful for days after their service. It is also common for ingrown hairs to form under the skin, especially if the client has thick or course hair.

If you are hoping to find a treatment that is a worthwhile investment, Laser Hair Reduction (Removal) is a wise choice. Our Nurse Practitioner, Gita Izadi, will use the Lumenis (Light Sheer Desire) Laser to quickly treat the hair that is in the anagen stage (growing phase). Multiple treatments will be required to achieve the best possible result as we are trying to eliminate all the hair growth cycles. On average, 5-7 treatments that are between 4-6 weeks apart are needed for optimal results. Laser Hair Reduction has been FDA approved to last a minimum of 2-4 years with patients needing occasional touchups. Some treatment areas, such as lip or underarms, can even be completed in less than 10 minutes.

Preparation

To prepare for this treatment you need to shave the area that that will be lasered. It is important to not tan for 7 to 10 days before (or after) treatment, this includes Spray Tanning. Immediately after treatment, you can expect a mild sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling. This usually lasts 2-24 hours, and can be soothed with cold gel or ice packs. The treated hair will continue to appear 7-30 days post-treatment. This is not new hair growth, but the treated hairs being expelled from the skin. In some cases you may experience Folliculitis or slight inflammation of the hair follicles, if this occurs you can call Neu Look Medical Spa for advice on how you should treat that area.

My Journey with Acne and Skin Treatments

I know the dream answer to managing your acne would be one thing. Like there is this one product that will change everything or cutting one thing from your diet would fix it but it takes more than that. Acne is a more aggressive issue than that. What Is Radiesse?

Aging and Radiesse Aging affects all parts of the body, and the hands are no exception. They used to be a sign of age prior to aesthetic companies finding ways to combat the skin aging. From loss of strength and grip, increased stiffness and lack of mobility, the hands show the signs of aging in many ways. However, one of the first signs of aging in the hands is a cosmetic concern, but one that can affect the happiness of your patients nonetheless.
