The Vitalize Peel by SkinMedica - Neu Look Med Spa San Diego, CA

Who is The Vitalize Peel For?

The Vitalize Peel is appropriate for patients with mild-to-moderate skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, as well as uneven skin tone and texture. Vitalize Peel treatments also address skin unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or other pigmentary changes. Therefore, the Vitalize Peel is suitable for all skin types.

The Vitalize Peel Process

The Vitalize Peel itself only takes a few minutes to apply and it will remain on you for 20 minutes. During the treatment, the chemical solution will be directly applied to the skin. Patients may experience tingling sensations as the solution is working. After the 20 minutes, of the solution on your face, the solution is neutralized and washed off. Even though the Nurse Practitioner washes your face off after the peel, you will be instructed to wash it off again when you get home. But the post-peel skincare regimen is dependent on your specific skin type. In the following days you will notice your skin peeling as the acids do their work and the dead skin starts to come off. You may not require any downtime and may be able to hide the peeling skin by moisturizing and your post-treatment skin regime

Like most chemical peels you can receive another treatment in just as little as four to six weeks. Multiple treatments may be required for optimal skin results. The number of treatments is individual to your skin appearance desires which you will discuss with your practitioner. The Vitalize Peel is most effective with a Skin Medica daily regimen. Don’t worry we will give you post peel step-by-step instructions with the products you need. Your post-peel regimen will include a sensitive skin cleanser, moisturizer appropriate for your skin type, and a sunscreen you must use daily.

What To Expect With The Vitalize Peel

Like everything else in life, human skin needs maintenance. The Vitalize Peel’s results will last as long as skin care is maintained, sun exposure is moderate and preventive aging with the Vitalize Peel is performed three or four times per year. It is imperative that in between treatments, skin care is maintained and optimized with an appropriate home care regimen designed for your skin.

It takes about four days after the peel for the skin to return to its normal pH and for you to see the final effects. The skin will look luminous and glowing. Your face will feel refreshed with slightly tighter skin, and hyper-pigmentation will be improved or gone, depending on the amount of damage. The texture of your skin will be improved with an overall more youthful appearance.

The results you can expect from the Vitalize Peel will transform your skin, especially if you do multiple treatments. Once the skin finishes peeling, improvements will become visible, however, the full results will take 4 to 6 weeks to appear. At that point the skin will look smoother, firmer, and clearer with a more youthful appearance.

Rejuvenize Peel

The Rejuvenize Peel is a chemical peel for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, you will see noticeable results just after one treatment, and see ultimate results with three to six peels. The Rejuvenize Peel is absorbed into the skin and strips away layers of dead and dying skin cells, that many other peels cannot remove. The Rejuvenize Peel by SkinMedica - Neu Look Med Spa San Diego, CA

Who is The Rejuvenize Peel For?

Each chemical peel is customized to your needs and lifestyle, so you will receive just the right treatment for your type of skin. The Rejuvenize Peel may work to stimulate collagen production, a protein that is responsible for the skin’s resilience, hydration and healthy glow. The Rejuvenize Peel is appropriate for patients with mild-to-moderate skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. The Rejuvenize Peel treatment also addresses skin unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or other pigmentary changes. The Rejuvenize peel permeates deep into the topmost layers of your skin. It thoroughly dries and agitates the visible layer of skin, causing it to flake away to reveal the younger, healthier and clearer skin below. The Rejuvenize Peel is formulated to seep deep into the skin in order to affect the most layers of old, damaged skin cells. It delivers surprising results after just one Rejevenize Peel without causing serious discomfort or requiring significant downtime.

The Rejuvenize Peel Process

The Rejuvenize Peel itself only takes several minutes to apply and it will remain on your skin for six to eight hours. During treatment, the chemical solution will be directly applied to the skin. Patients may experience tingling sensations as the solution is working. While the peel is applied at your doctor’s office you will be instructed to wash your face at home. And in the following days you will notice your skin peeling as the acids do their work and dead skin starts to come off. You may not require long downtime and you may be able to hide the peeling skin.

What To Expect With The Rejuvenize Peel

Peeling from Rejuvenize generally begins 48 hours after chemical application and may last up to five days. Allowing skin to peel on its own will prevent scarring. For maximum comfort during healing, patients are advised to use a gentle cleanser, moisturize, and ice your skin. In approximately one week, the skin will enjoy less fine lines and wrinkles, and the texture and color will gain clarity as well. Since results are cumulative, it may be necessary to receive more than one treatment. The more Rejuvenize Peel treatments, the better you will feel about your skin.

Like most chemical peels you can receive another treatment in just as little as four to six weeks. Multiple treatments maybe required for optimal skin results. The number of treatments is individual to your skin appearance desires which you will discuss with your practitioner. The Rejuvenize Peel is most effective with a SkinMedica daily regimen, which will be given to you by our staff. Your step-by-step post-procedure regimen will include a sensitive skin cleanser, moisturizer appropriate for your skin type, and a sunscreen you must use daily.

neu look medical spa and skin centers pdo thread lifts in san diego

About PDO Thread Lift at Neu Look Medical Spa in San Diego

Neu Look Medical Spa in San Diego, CA is known for being up-to-date on all cosmetic treatments that are typically offered in medical spas. A newer procedure, PDO Thread Lift, that has been done for years in other countries was recently FDA approved for the United States within the last two years. According to the National Laser Institute, PDO Thread Lift, is a “Non-surgical face lift utilizing monofilament fibers, which dissolve over time, to lift and reposition the skin in order to accentuate the cheeks, diminish the jowls and tighten the jawline.” The threads are made out of a well-known material that is used in pediatric cardiac surgeries, and can also be used in many other areas of the body besides the face and neck.

How to Prepare for Your PDO Thread Lift

To prepare for your PDO Thread Lift, there are a couple of precautionary things you should do. Such as:

  • Ensure there is no inflammation already present in the body the days leading up to or on your treatment day.
  • Get any dental work that you are unable to post-pone out of the way, you will not be able to see a dentist for approximately two weeks.
  • Avoid taking any blood-thinning medications or blood-clotting medications approximately two days before your treatment day.
  • Try to limit bodily and emotional stressors prior to your treatment.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol the night before your treatment.

Important Things to Note About the PDO Thread Lift

Inflammation presently in the body and physical or emotional stressors can enhance the bodies response to the trauma caused by the PDO Thread Lift, even though the treatment is mild and very safe. In the same way, bringing stress and anxiety into the treatment room can sometimes bring unnecessary discomfort and prolong a rather short healing process. A healthy mindset and trust in your practitioner can help your treatment go smoother and have an overall better experience.

Although PDO Thread Lift is a wonderful treatment, it does not replace the use of dermal fillers. It does however accentuate fillers and help you to get an even better result with your filler treatment. The PDO Thread Lift was designed to pull loose skin back, to a degree, while the filler is responsible for replacing the fat that was lost due to the aging process. A consultation at Neu Look Medical Spa will be required to determine how effective the lifting treatment will be for you based on how much loose skin has already been accumulated. When using these two treatments in conjunction with one another, you will receive the best possible result.

Types of Treatments

As we stated earlier, there are many possible treatment areas such as aging knees, breast, the buttocks, loose belly skin and more. The treatment area will determine which thread is to be used. The MEDiTHREAD website informs us, “There are many types of PDO threads and this can be confusing for patients. In general, PDO threads can be divided into Smooth threads and Barbed threads.

  • Smooth threads are used to stimulate collagen.
  • Barbed threads are used to lift and reposition the skin.

PDO threads come in different thicknesses and lengths. These all affect their quality, tensile strength, effectiveness, and of course, price of your treatment. Your doctor may choose to use different kind of threads for you, depending on your rejuvenation and skin lifting needs.”

Benefits of Laser Hair Reduction (aka “Removal”)

Laser Hair Removal at Neu Look Med Spa in San Diego

The Struggle is Real

At Neu Look Medical Spa in San Diego, California, we consider it summertime year-round. With almost perfect weather for shorts all year , your skin always needs to be ready! We offer all of the treatment essentials such as spray tanning, IPL Laser (for red and brown discolorations) and most importantly Laser Hair Reduction or “Removal”. Every female knows the struggle of always trying to achieve smooth skin with the results ending in stubble, razor bumps, and ingrown hairs . Men can also struggle with folliculitis (white or red pimple like dots surrounding the hair follicle) and ingrown hairs that can potentially cause scaring on their face, typically in their beard area.

Laser Hair Removal Vs. Waxing

Some people get waxed regularly, which is much less time consuming than shaving. Waxing is an effective method of hair removal for most people but it can be expensive in the long run. Many people experience skin irritation that can be itchy, unsightly and painful for days after their service. It is also common for ingrown hairs to form under the skin, especially if the client has thick or course hair.

If you are hoping to find a treatment that is a worthwhile investment, Laser Hair Reduction (Removal) is a wise choice. Our Nurse Practitioner, Gita Izadi, will use the Lumenis (Light Sheer Desire) Laser to quickly treat the hair that is in the anagen stage (growing phase). Multiple treatments will be required to achieve the best possible result as we are trying to eliminate all the hair growth cycles. On average, 5-7 treatments that are between 4-6 weeks apart are needed for optimal results. Laser Hair Reduction has been FDA approved to last a minimum of 2-4 years with patients needing occasional touchups. Some treatment areas, such as lip or underarms, can even be completed in less than 10 minutes.

Preparation

To prepare for this treatment you need to shave the area that that will be lasered. It is important to not tan for 7 to 10 days before (or after) treatment, this includes Spray Tanning. Immediately after treatment, you can expect a mild sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling. This usually lasts 2-24 hours, and can be soothed with cold gel or ice packs. The treated hair will continue to appear 7-30 days post-treatment. This is not new hair growth, but the treated hairs being expelled from the skin. In some cases you may experience Folliculitis or slight inflammation of the hair follicles, if this occurs you can call Neu Look Medical Spa for advice on how you should treat that area.

How to Heal Bruises From Injectables Quicker

How to Help Prevent Bruising - Neu Look Med Spa & Skin Center in San Diego, CA

At Neu Look Medical Spa in San Diego, CA, we understand the importance of privacy and the possibility that many of our patients do not share their cosmetic procedures with their peers. We pride ourselves on being knowledgeable about how much downtime is usually required per treatment to allow our patients to plan accordingly with the exception of one side effect: bruising. This is the only side effect that cannot be predicted prior to a treatment and the length and depth of the bruise cannot be pre- determined. There are so many blood vessels that cannot be seen by the naked eye in the body, especially in the face and neck area. Unfortunately, many people fear getting treated because of the possibility of bruising.

How to Heal Bruises Quicker

Although we cannot promise you will not be bruised, there are ways to heal the bruise quicker and more efficiently. The IPL Machine, or Photofacial Laser, can be used to minimize the appearance of a bruise within a few days or even help it to heal faster. You may recognize the name of this laser because it is typically used for broken capillaries, sun damage or other blemishes. Another way to reduce the longevity and discomfort of a bruise is to use warm compresses the day after the treatment or to simply allow the warm water to run over your face in the shower. Warmth helps the blood to flow and distribute away from the area versus having a cold compress promote clotting. We often suggest our patients begin taking oral tablets of Arnica or applying a topical Arnica cream the night before the treatment. This homeopathic remedy can be used for various purposes such as swelling, bruising, muscle pain, insect bites and more. We also suggest that patients hold off on using blood thinning medications a couple of days before their treatment or the soonest possible before receiving their injection for prevention purposes. We also advise you to not consume alcohol the day prior to your treatment or the day of your treatment.

Helpful Tips

Gita Izadi, Nurse Practitioner, can typically see a bruise forming almost immediately after the pinpoint injection. It is important to apply mild pressure quickly to prevent the spreading and depth of the bruise. The staff at Neu Look Med Spa try our best to keep the facility a low-stress environment that is inviting and comforting to our patients. We try to educate our patients to think positive thoughts before and during a treatment to not “invite” negative results, such as a bruise. High blood pressure, stress and anxiety can increase your chances of bruising. I am sure you have heard the phrase, “you can think something into existence”. It is also a fact that your genetics play the largest part in whether or not you will bruise. Everyone’s body has a different way of processing trauma, even if it is mild. This being said, Neu Look Med Spa wants to encourage positivity and to not allow one side effect to discourage you from getting treatments. Bruises are natural and typically resolve on their own in less than two weeks. It’s a small price to pay for the happiness you will experience long term from your results. Think of the bigger picture and enjoy the process.

6 Easy Tips to Stop Yourself from Picking Your Skin

6 Easy Tips to Stop Yourself from Picking Your Skin

Many people have the habit of picking their skin, and working at Neu Look gave us the experience all those people and witness the consequence of their behavior.  At Neu Look Med Spa we treat all types of acne and other skin conditions. We have a large variety of skin treatments that target anything from cystic acne to hyperpigmentaiton. In 2019 we are putting a focus on educating our current and new patients about skin health and how to prevent further impurities.

According to Psychology Today, “Excoriation disorder, or compulsive skin picking, dermatillomania is a psychological condition that manifests in the form of repetitive touching, scratchingpicking, and digging at one’s own skin.” We are all guilty of this compulsive action at some point or another, but unfortunately it may cause deep scaring that will be difficult and expensive to correct many years later. Medical News Today warns us against crater scaring in an article explaining, “Pockmarks are deep scars on the skin that do not usually go away on their own. They are often caused by severe acne but can also be the result of skin infections or chickenpox.” In some cases scaring is inevitable but in most, the majority can be prevented by simply using the correct skin regimen proscribed by your provider and keeping your hands off your face!

Another factor in scaring is your skin type according to the Fitzpatrick Scale. It is a way to estimate how your skin tone or type can tolerate sun exposure and trauma. It is proven that darker skin tones (types 3-6) are more prone to a darkening of pigment rather than lighter skin tones (types 1-2) due to the excess of melanin in the skin. That being said, it is harder to safely laser skin types 3-6 if scaring occurs which limits your treatment options. The laser concentrates on darker pigmentation so the laser can focus on the blemish directly on people with a lighter skin tone. Gita (NP) at Neu Look Med Spa can always meet with you for a consultation to distinguish if your skin can be “prepped” with a brightening agent before your laser appointment if you are a darker skin type.

If you are a “picker” it is never too late to stop! Here are some tips on how to distract yourself from touching or picking a blemish:

  • Do not over-examine yourself in the mirror and do not use the extra strength mirrors that show every impurity. If you cannot see it with the naked eye, neither can anyone else!
  • If you catch yourself touching a blemish, stop immediately.
  • If you feel as if you need to touch your face, if possible, try to cleanse or moisturize! Make it a productive touch instead or a harmful one.
  • Have a friend or family member that you can tell when you feel the urge to hold you accountable whether it is with a phone call or in person.
  • Keep a sticky note that says “Do not pick” on your mirror to remind you. It sounds silly but it works.
  • Get regular skin treatments to improve your skin so there will not be as many impurities to tempt you!

Call Neu Look Med Spa at 858-538-5665 to ask about our free consultations or schedule one today. We also respond to emails at info@neulookskin.com to assist you.

Vitalize Peel vs. Rejuvenize Peel

Vitalize Peel vs. Rejuvenize Peel

Chemical Peels at Neu Look Med Spa

Chemical peels (used at Neu Look Med Spa) are prescribed for many reasons. At Neu Look they can be used for all skin types and all ages after 18. The peels penetrate to a safe but deeper layer than microdermabrasion, other mechanical exfoliations or scrubs. Peels help to rebuild collagen we have lost over time and boost our cell turnover rate. The natural cell turnover rate for the average adult is 30 to 90 days and it is every other day for a baby or small child. That is why the skin heals so much more quickly when having an abrasion when we are children. The face feels and looks better only a few days after having a peel, leaving your face with a better skin tone, improved texture and overall, a radiant glow. Chemical peels are also used for correcting adolescent and adult acne by destroying the bacteria in the skin and drying up any active breakout. Receiving routine chemical peels can help to slow the signs of aging, and in some cases, reverse some of the present signs of aging.

The Vitalize Peel by Skin Medica

The Vitalize Peel by Skin Medica has a mixture of Lactic and Salicylic Acid and then it is layered under a Retinol complex – which is optional. Just because it is called a “chemical peel” does not mean you always physically peel. Some patients do not want to peel due to work or other obligations so leaving the Retinol layer out can help to prevent you physically shedding dead skin. Instead, the peel will work internally inside the dermis.

This peel can be expected to:

  • Help correct sun damage to a small degree.* Smooth fine lines.
  • Reduces mild scarring.
  • Smoothes rough texture.
  • Improves acne conditions.

It is unrealistic to expect this peel to remove or reduce broken blood vessels, eliminate deep wrinkles or redesign your natural pore size and shape. The pores will appear to be slightly smaller and more constricted post treatment but your pore size and shape is genetic. It is impossible to shrink them contrary to popular belief. You should wait 6-8 hours (a minimum of 2-3 hours) before washing your face after receiving your Vitalize Peel at Neu Look Med Spa. This particular one is self neutralizing. Any redness or sensitivity from the peel will subside within couple hours of the application and it will also take 48 HR for flaking to begin if you request the Retinol layer. The flakiness of vitalize peel is very minimum unless is used on someone with very sensitive skin or patient with darker skin. You can do a series of this peel and receive them every 3-4 weeks if you desire. You may also apply this peel to the neck and chest to improve fine lines and blotchy discoloration such as age spots.

The Rejuvenize Peel

The Rejuvenize Peel mainly targets fine lines and texture plus acne. This peel also has Salicylic Acid along with Mandelic Acid instead of Lactic Acid so it is a little stronger. You may also request to add a Retinol layer to increase your chances of physically peeling – but this is optional. This peel can performed in 3-5 week intervals and is best with a series of 3-6 peels.

This peel can be expected to:

  • Improve your overall skin condition.
  • Diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Smooth the skins texture.
  • Improve overall clarity of the skin (subsides the appearance of Acne).

The Cosmelan Peel

It is unrealistic to expect this peel to completely remove any deep set wrinkles or remove any dark spots that are deep. It can however help to address skin tone unevenness or scaring caused by acne. The Cosmelan Peel is the only peel to date that can help to reverse major sun damage and age spots. You should also wait 6-8 hours to remove the Cosmelan 1 mask. You may experience mild redness and sensitivity but this will not subsides as quick as other peels. You may also apply this peel to the neck and chest to improve fine lines, firming the skin and pigmentation.

A Few Words of Caution

Before your chemical peel you should avoid skin exposure to the sun and tanning. You should also discontinue the use of Retinol creams, AHA’s, Glycolic Acid, Vitamin C or Bleaching creams one week prior to your appointment. We at Neu Look will prescribe you a post-peel skincare regimen for your homecare to ensure the best and prolonged results of your treatment.

Book your chemical peel today at Neu Look Med Spa by calling 858-538-5665. Ask one of our highly trained professionals any questions you may have about which peel best suites you or about any other service we offer.
